Post-Procedure Instructions for Joints

Immediately After Your Cell Transplant Procedure: The stem cell injection includes producing a micro injury in the joint. As a result, expect the joint to be sore. This can be everything from minimally sore to very sore. Activity: The goal is to allow the stem cells to attach and then to protect them while they differentiate into cartilage. William C Rader of Medra aka Stem Cell of America has deceptively edited his Wikipedia page, inserting false and misleading information, in order to pander his fraudulent stem cells. He has changed the resourced factual information so repetitively that the WIki monitors have locked the page and have grossly re-edited the information to such a bare minimum that Rader's fraudulent maneuvers have not been captured. Rader has threatened Wiki with a lawsuit, if they do not cease and desist in their attempt of providing the original factual information. Below is William C Rader's Wiki page before it was chopped down to nothing.

By no means does this information describe the gauntlet of Rader's insidious Ponzi scheme or his immoral and despicable character.

Discovery could lead to biological treatment for common birth defect

USC researchers have discovered which stem cells are responsible for the growth of craniofacial bones in micea finding that could have a profound impact on the understanding and treatment of a birth defect that can lead to an array of physical and intellectual disabilities in humans.

In an article published in the April issue of Nature Cell Biology, Professor Yang Chai describes how he and postdoctoral fellow Hu Zhao identified a population of Gli1+ stem cells within the mesenchyme of tissue between the bones of the skull, known as cranial sutures.

Chai's research team noted that if Gli1+ cells were eliminated from the sutures, the craniofacial bones experienced growth arrest and weakening, leading researchers to conclude these cells were indispensable in healthy skull development.

The findings could have a significant impact on the treatment of craniosynostosis, a birth defect affecting one in 2,500 births.

An infant's soft spot

In a normally developing baby, the craniofacial bones do not grow together for up to 18 months to allow for the brain to reach nearly 70 percent of its eventual size. It's these open sutures that cause babies' heads to have "soft spots."

In an infant with craniosynostosis, the skull bones fuse together before the brain has fully developed, which can cause an array of problems, including hearing and vision defects and developmental disorders.

"Traditional scientific literature viewed craniosynostosis as an overgrowth of bone," said Chai, holder of the George and Mary Lou Boone Chair of Craniofacial Biology. "Our findings offer a brand new perspective, which is that craniosynostosis could actually be viewed as a lack of stem cells."

The discovery could lead to a different treatment intervention for babies with craniosynostosis. Up until now, if the bones prematurely fused, a doctor had to operate, typically within the first year of the baby's life. The surgery entails removing the top of the child's skull, cutting it into segments and then stapling it back together, creating enough space for the infant's developing brain to grow.

Stem cell transplants, which are also referred to as bone marrow transplants, are done when the patient's bone marrow can no longer make healthy stem cells. Stem cells are the building blocks for white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. White blood cells fight infection, red blood cells transport oxygen and nutrients, and platelets help with blood clotting; all three functions are necessary for sustaining life. Stem cell transplants can use either stem cells from the patient's body or stem cells from donor sources. Stem cells from donors are found in the bone marrow and also in umbilical cord blood. During the procedure, a catheter known as a central line is placed in the chest; healthy transplanted stem cells are infused through the central line and into the body.

Both cancerous and noncancerous diseases are treated with stem cell transplants. In the case of aplastic anemia, a non-cancerous disease, the stem cells in the patient's bone marrow function but not well enough to make an adequate amount of new blood cells. When healthy stem cells are transplanted and accepted by the patient's body, the non-functioning stem cells in the blood marrow are destroyed and healthy transplanted stem cells move to the bone marrow and take over production of blood cells. In the case of leukemia, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow, a successful stem cell transplant can both increase the amount of healthy blood cells the patient's body can produce as well as kill remaining cancer cells in the bone marrow.

Before a stem cell transplant to treat cancer, the patient undergoes a process known as conditioning, which can include radiation and chemotherapy to kill cancer cells as well as suppress the immune system. Because the immune system is suppressed, there is a high risk of infection for the patient; the radiation and chemotherapy can also cause a wide range of side effects that include nausea, hair loss, anemia, mouth sores and ulcers.

Stem cell transplants cure some but not all diseases. Some patients experience a remission of their disease; successful stem cell transplants offer an extension of life to such patients. Patients who undergo a stem cell transplant using stem cells that were harvested from their own bodies often recover more rapidly than patients whose stem cell transplants used donor cells. Patients who received donor stem cells may face problems with their immune system rejecting the donor stem cell transplant. Full recovery with blood marrow functioning at normal levels can take as long as one year.

My name is Hannah Heinzig, and I am 24 years old recently diagnosed with Pemphigus Vulgaris. This is how everyone starts out their story, so I will get those needed details out of the way. Now let me back track a few years.

I went to a small college called East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma to study nursing. My hopes and dreams were to be a missionary nurse overseas in third world countries helping provide healthcare to those who cannot afford it or have to access to good healthcare. As a college student I was very active on campus with international students and Christian campus organizations. I wanted to change the world by loving one human at a time.

As you know, local blood drives loveto use college campuses to request help. I loved the idea of being able to give blood and help save a life and gave on several occasions. One particular day at the blood drive there were representatives who were raising awareness for the National Bone Marrow Foundation. I listened all about the new research being done and how you can swab your cheek fill out the necessary paperwork and become a registered member as a possible candidate for either a bone marrow or stem cell donor for cancer patients needing healthy cells.

I was intrigued and of course was always willing to help save a life. Two years passed and I completely forgot about that day until I was in my junior year of nursing and we learned in class about stem cell and bone marrow donation from non familial relations for people with various cancers. The professor asked if anyone in the class had registered as a bone marrow or stem cell donor, I remembered two years ago that I had and realized I was the only one in my class of 75 students who was registered.

The more I learned about it the more I was excited to be a possible match for someone. I prayed that weekend that if God wanted me to be a healthy donor for someone, I was ready and willing. One week later I received a call from the Oklahoma Blood Institute saying I was a possible match for a 37 year old female with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. My heart began to pound as I remember my prayer one week prior.

I quickly jotted down the address and agreed to go in for further testing to assessme as a match. Long story short, I was the perfect match and had the privilege to give my healthy stem cells through a process called aphoreis. This process required me to receive subcutaneous injections of the drug, Neupogen for 5 days prior to giving my stem cells.
