Davina McCall has revealed shes still taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) eight years after starting the perimenopause.

The TV presenter, 52, started HRT when she beganexperiencing symptoms like severe night sweats.

Speaking to Sunday Mirrors Notebook magazine, she said: Literallythe first time I put the little magic sticker on I slept through the night.

I hadnt slept through the night for years, Id been lyingon a towel because the sheets were so wet. I felt back to me again. I went fromfeeling desperate to really amazing overnight.

Davina admitted she would stay on the pills until shes 80and even asked the doctor if she could.

He said, Lets just take it year by year, she explained. But at the moment I still feel amazing.

HRT is a treatment to relieve symptoms of the menopause. Itreplaces hormones that are at a lower level as you approach the menopause.

Symptoms of menopause include hot flushes, night sweats,mood swings, vaginal dryness, and reduced sex drive.

The star also recently opened up about her terrifying drug overdose around 30 years ago.

She explained that drugs took her to a very, very, verydark place, and recalled the terrifying night she overdosed.

It was very frightening as it was a very gradual overdose.Id had a cocktail of drugs, because I didnt want to feel normal, sherecalled.

I was constantly trying to escape myself I was like a piece of fruit rotting from the inside.

Speaking at The Sun on Sundays International Womens Day event, she added: So then I thought, Well, Ill just take a valium, and the next thing I knew I woke up in hospital. At my lowest point, when I was filled with self-hatred, it was literally a case of get clean, or die.

Davina went on to say that she began to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings, and had quit drugs within a year, before mentioning that she still sometimes goes if she feels she needs it.
