Alcohol abuse is known to cause pathology in a number of organ systems. Disorders most commonly associated with chronic alcohol consumption include alcoholic liver disease (ALD), pancreatitis, cardiovascular disease, neural damage, endocrine dysfunction, osteoporosis, cancer, and immune dysfunction. The objective of this FOA is to understand the role of stem cells in alcohol-induced tissue damage and recovery, particularly how they are influenced by alcohol metabolism and their role in alcohol-related cancers.
