Researchers from 30 departments in nine colleges have joined together to study muscle weakness through the Center for Muscle Biology at the University of Kentucky. In 2012, center investigators received $6.8 million in grant funding to study muscle weakness in normal aging, and in chronic diseases like cancer, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. This video highlights research projects on stem cells in muscle, heart muscle imaging in obese children, the effect of massage on muscle repair, and 3D models to improve rehab after knee surgery.
