Those with less severe tissue damage will heal faster. Patients that do not experience a 75% improvement at 8 weeks may require a PRP injection to reactivate the healing response.

Patients with arthritis and chondromalacia are also expected to have 75% symptom reduction by 8 weeks. There have been some reports that the x-rays can actually show improvement but this can take up to a year.

While extremely beneficial to patients, relatively few orthopedic surgeons offer stem cell injections. Many people travel to large cities like Miami or New York for the treatment and can expect to pay $7,500 or more, not including the cost of the travel. In Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Goradia and Dr. Budny with G2 offer stem cell injections for less than half the cost.

Insurance plans dont cover the cost of stem cell injections, but patients can use FSA funds for full payment. Do to the cost of the supplies needed for these injections, full payment is required at the time of surgery.
